State of Local AI Visibility

Market: HVAC Repair & Installation — Dallas-Fort Worth, TX

In Dallas–Fort Worth HVAC, AI assistants cite national cost guides, Angi, Yelp and manufacturer pages — and no local contractor at all. We ran the questions homeowners actually ask across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. This is the baseline; the case study shows what we did about it.

The finding

DFW homeowners ask AI things like "best HVAC company in North Dallas", "AC repair cost 2026", "same-day furnace fix near me". The engines respond with national cost guides, Angi and Yelp links, and manufacturer brand pages.

The monitored DFW HVAC prompt set shows no local contractor cited in any AI answer — including several on regional "best of" award lists. Google's awards and ChatGPT's answers are currently different universes.

What that means for a local business

The citation space in this category is open. The business that ships basic citation infrastructure first — correct LocalBusiness schema, a llms.txt file, service pages shaped like the questions customers actually ask — becomes the name the engines can cite. And citations compound: once an engine cites you in an answer, later answers inherit it.

Methodology

Live monitoring of customer-style HVAC prompts across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews. October 2026.
